The Fund for Women was established in 2009 as a field of interest fund at the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc.
We’d like to introduce you to our founder, Rachel Wood (left, above), who envisioned a philanthropic organization that would help empower girls and women throughout our region.
Once established, the Fund became the first funding stream dedicated solely to helping improve the lives of girls and women living in the Southern Tier counties of Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates in New York State. During 2013, the Fund was incorporated as a stand-alone 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and adopted the present name, Fund for Women of the Southern Tier, Inc.

The Fund for Women has grown significantly since 2009, when Rachel Wood and her team realized her vision. View our video to hear from recent grant recipients about the value of their grants from the Fund.
View a list of the Fund for Women’s original Founders – those contributors who donated $1,000 or more since the Fund’s inception in 2009, a giving opportunity that was retired in 2013, as the Fund moved from a membership- to a donor-based organization.
Please help us continue our work in the region. You can make a difference in the lives of girls and women.
We urge others to get involved and support the Fund for Women by making a donation of any size, volunteering at one of our events, and spreading the word.
